Three Phase (3ϕ) doesn’t phase us (more power for AI)

The growth of artificial intelligence (AI) and high-performance computing (HPC) and their substantial power requirements is driving the swift adoption of custom and more powerful power distribution units (PDUs). As standard Datanet provides 2 x 7kW (32A) APC PDUs which is very generous, however more demanding workloads require multiple: 2,4 even 6 PDUs or a pair of 3 phase (3ϕ) PDUs for that additional power requirement. We already have racks with 3ϕ PDUs fitted as standard configured as a resilient pair offering up to 90Amps across three phases and the cooling to match. The growing density of AI and HPC workloads is leading to substantial power consumption therefore requiring solutions beyond standard offerings, which many server rooms or even smaller data centres just won’t be able to accommodate, but we can.

At Datanet, we provide all racks natively with dual 7kW APC PDUs able to handle workloads starting from 15kW. The APC Smart PDUs have proven to be extremely reliable, for more than 20 years we have been providing them to our rack customers.

They have of course changed over the years, constantly improving on the reliability, flexibility and functionality APC (Schneider) is famous for. Today the generous assortment of C13 and C19 sockets is complemented by power metering technology and (optionally) individual remotely switchable sockets, the latter provided over a separate out of bands network to guarantee remote access. They are a perfect fit in the large Datanet 47U Ultra Racks.
