Summary:

Datanet offers a fairer approach to colocation power pricing by charging customers based on their average power consumption, not peak usage or 95th percentile billing. This allows organisations to deploy higher-capacity racks while only paying for the power they actually use, resulting in clearer costs and greater flexibility.

Did you know that Datanet offers Fair Power Billing Based on Real Usage, Not Peaks

Datanet has reaffirmed its commitment to transparent, customer-first pricing by continuing to bill colocation customers based on actual average power consumption, rather than peak demand or 95th percentile usage.

In many data centres, customers are required to pay for their maximum possible load or short-lived spikes in usage, even if those levels are rarely sustained. Datanet takes a different approach. Customers can deploy higher-capacity racks – for example, a 5kW rack – while only paying for what they genuinely use on average. If a rack averages 2kW over the billing period, the customer is charged for 2kW, not the full 5kW capacity.

This model gives organisations the flexibility to scale, absorb short-term bursts in demand, and future-proof their infrastructure without being penalised for occasional peaks. There is no 95th percentile charging and no billing based on theoretical maximums – just clear, predictable costs aligned to real consumption.

For customers, the benefits are immediate: improved cost control, simpler forecasting, and the confidence that power bills reflect operational reality rather than worst-case scenarios. For businesses running variable or growing workloads, it removes a common barrier to efficient infrastructure planning.

By focusing on average usage rather than peak demand, Datanet continues to challenge traditional data centre billing models and deliver a more practical, fair, and transparent approach to colocation power pricing.
