The Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice receives local support

08/05/2007 – The Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice opens 2 beds with the help of local support

Left, Conleth McCallan (Managing Director of Datanet) Right, Graham Brookland (Community Fundraiser for Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice) The Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice, based in Farnham, offers a wide range of services to people suffering from life-limiting illness and support for their families. Since the charity’s opening in 1979, more than 6000 local people facing a terminal illness have been cared for at the Hospice and in their own homes by Hospice staff. Whilst the Hospice receives funding from the NHS it covers only 16% of their running costs and therefore the Phyllis Tuckwell relies heavily on residential and business donations.

Recently the Phyllis Tuckwell has launched the second phase of the Living Appeal and is delighted to announce that they shall be re-opening two of its four closed beds this autumn. With help from companies like Datanet, a local business Internet Service Provider based in Aldershot who recently presented a cheque to help with running costs, The Phyllis Tuckwell can continue to provide much needed care and support.

Managing Director of Datanet Conleth McCallan comments “The Phyllis Tuckwell has been our official sponsored charity since 2003, chosen because Datanet’s staff have known family or friends that have had to use its care. And because of that we are happy to present a cheque to help the charity continue its valued work.”
