Senior Network Engineer
A fantastic opportunity for an experienced Cisco Network Engineer working in the Telecomms ISP sector to design, develop, build, enhance and manage our 21CN network and associated technologies including VoIP and Unified Comms. Datanet, the longest serving, award winning UK ISP is expanding its IP Network and Unified Comms portfolio and is looking for an exceptional Network and Cisco Support engineer. An exciting career opportunity to act as a key member of the support team for all network issues within this fast moving ISP and Telecoms industry.
You will have a very good working knowledge of all areas of networking within a Cisco environment (e.g. routing, switching, load balancing, firewalls and security etc), CCNP or equivalent experience along with experience in an IP networking environment, VPN, ASA, VoIP, Juniper Firewall, Hosting and VMware experience would be a real bonus.
Your primary and secondary duties include:
Ensure the continued reliable and efficient operation of our network infrastructure and systems.
Optimise and improve the network infrastructure and systems.
Provide guidance, direction and advice to the management team on strategy and technology.
Leadership and the desire to own issues through to resolution.
Accept responsibility for the network and systems both singularly and jointly in conjunction with other senior members of the team.
At the earliest opportunity, join our 24x7 support rota.
Assist in negotiation of Carrier Relations in Transit, Private Circuits, MPLS, Broadband etc.
Provision equipment and systems both on customer site and in our data centres.
Provide 3rd level support (1st and 2nd level occasionally) both internally and externally.
Provide guidance and advice to sales, marketing and other departments as required.
Be an excellent company ambassador helping in pre and post technical sales.
Be willing to learn new technologies and to allow your job to develop accordingly.
Ensure data collected and collated in an orderly and accurate fashion.
Maintain current and achieve further academic qualifications.
Based out of and working from our Fleet (GU51 2UT) data centre you will occasionally visit customer sites and one of our three London data centres.
Salary: £35k-£45k + pension, bonus, training and other benefits.
