Partner Update: New rules on broadband advertising

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) is cracking down on the way broadband pricing is merryadvertised.

From 31st October 2016 ASA has recommended that future broadband advertisements should:

  • Outline all costs involved (upfront costs, ongoing costs and contract length)
  • Contain one inclusive price for upfront costs and one inclusive price for on going costs (combined line rental and broadband cost where the provider is supplying the PSTN line)
  • Ensure that any discount or introductory price (to one or some of the elements) is made clear at the outset.
