“EU- US Safe Harbor framework ruled as invalid”: what are the implications for Datanet Customers?

ECJOn the 6th October the European Court of Justice ruled that the EU-US Safe Harbor framework does not provide a valid legal basis for the transfer of personal data from Europe to the US and have thrown it out and are looking to replace it with a new agreement. The safe harbour framework which, for the past fifteen years, has governed how the EU and the US share data, has enabled many US companies to collect data on UK businesses and people and share that data across the Atlantic to the United States. Here at Datanet we are a wholly owned UK company so we are not obliged to share data beyond the requirements of the UK government. With so many UK businesses looking to store data in the Cloud, knowing their data is secure and private and held in a UK owned data centre is of paramount importance. Datanet’s is not only UK owned but is an ISO 27001 certificated business with the mantra of ” CIA” Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability at the heart of all its services and solutions.
